Spinach Feta Palmiers Recipe

Palmiers are French pastries shaped similarly to a butterfly or elephants ears. They can be sweet or savory, plain or filled – such as my Cheesy Spinach and Feta Palmiers – making them perfect to serve as hors d’oeuvres and they are super easy to make.

These cute little palmiers are a perfect appetizer to serve to any crowd – hungry football fans watching the game, special guests at your next dinner party, or even kiddos straight off the bus from school looking for a snack.

Warning: these tasty little pastries will disappear quickly, you may want to make more than you think you’ll need!

  • Puff Pastry is a great ingredient to keep in your freezer. It thaws very quickly so you can prepare an easy appetizer with very short notice!

How to Make Spinach Feta Palmiers?

These cute little palmiers may look fancy but they are SO simple to make.

1 Unroll the puff pastry sheet out on a cutting board or kitchen counter.

2 In a medium bowl mix all filling ingredients (spinach, feta, mozzarella, garlic, green onion, salt and pepper to taste).

3 Spread this mixture on the puff pastry, leaving a 1/2-inch border all the way around.

4 Starting from one end of the puff pastry. Tightly roll one side of the puff pastry towards the center.

5 Then start from the other side and roll that into the center.

6 Wrap it tightly with plastic wrap and place it in the freezer until slightly firm (about 30 minutes).

7 Preheat the oven to 400°F or Preheat Air Fryer to 350°F.

8 Remove from freezer. With a very sharp knife, cut 1/2-inch slices. Place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet or lightly greased Air Fryer tray/basket.

How to Cook Spinach Feta Palmiers

OVEN COOKING METHOD
Bake for 20 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown.


AIR FRYER COOKING METHOD
Cook for 10 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown.

Filling

  • One 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 1 cup feta, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 green onion stalk, finely diced green part only
  • 2 garlic cloves, small, finely minced
  • salt and pepper, to taste
